Catechu is one of the vital herbs used in Ayurvedic formulations.The leaves, shoots, are used to make medicine. Catechu is used for diarrhoea, swelling of the colon (colitis), indigestion, osteoarthritis, and cancer.

Catechu is most commonly used by mouth for stomach problems such as diarrhoea, swelling of the colon (colitis), and indigestion.


How to use?


  • In foods and beverages, catechu is used as a flavoring agent.


  • Add a desirable quantity of Katha Powder in a container. Add water to make a paste. Mix well to make it even. Make sections of your hair so that the paste could be applied on the roots. Let it stay for at least 30-45 minutes. Rinse your hair well. You can also mix henna powder to your Katha powder.


  • People may apply catechu directly to the skin to treat skin diseases, hemorrhoids; to stop bleeding.


  • Catechu is included in mouthwashes and gargles used for gum disease (gingivitis), pain and swelling inside the mouth (stomatitis), sore throat, and mouth ulcers.
